The Chevy Silverado is an iconic full-size pickup truck that you’ll see on highways, residential streets, and worksites all across America. It’s ingrained in our collective psyche as a truly American vehicle and is unlikely to ever go out of style. If you’re shopping for a new Chevy Silverado for sale, you’ll be thrilled with all the great options Chevy has in their 2024 Silverado 1500 lineup this year. There are a total of nine different trim levels—each unique in its own way and designed for specific jobs and purposes. We’ve put together this Trim Guide to help you figure out which new Silverado might be the right one for you and your needs. And don’t forget, there’s often the ability to customize within trim levels themselves. Add other packages and options separately to build the exact right truck of your dreams.
WT
The WT—also known by its full name, Work Truck—trim on the 2024 Chevy Silverado is the base trim level. It comes with the fewest bells and whistles but is still an admirable and robust pickup truck that will help you get hard jobs done right. It’s a practical and highly dependable work vehicle. If you’re just starting out in a trade, maybe you’ve started your own company, the WT will be a reliable companion to see you on your way. This trim level comes with the choice of a regular cab—meaning only a single row of seats and slightly less cargo room. An added benefit of this is more accessible parking and maneuverability, not to mention a lower price tag. The WT starts at $44,995 and can be equipped with 2WD or AWD.[a] For engine options, you can select from Chevy’s TurboMax engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission or the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 with 10-speed automatic transmission. As a practical work option, Chevy has included several sturdy features on this trim, including rubberized vinyl floor covering and a bed made of roll-formed high-strength steel.
Custom
The Custom trim on the Silverado 1500 is the next step up from the WT. This trim comes with the TurboMax engine, with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and starts at an MSRP of $47,895.[a] The main differences between this trim level and the WT are added features like a tailgate with EZ Lift assist and an available trailer package. You’ll also find some nice upgrades in the main cabin, including available SiriusXM and a 10-way power driver’s seat to help you get maximum comfort out of your ride. On those cold or rainy mornings when you’re already running late, the rear window defogger will come in handy, too, to speed you on your way.
LT
Chevy hasn’t specified what exactly the LT means on this next step up trim level, but we like to image it means “luxury trim” because of all the additional luxurious appointments and features offered. First, though, it’s worth mentioning that this trim is the first one to have an available diesel engine option. If you’re a diesel fan, opt for the available 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is also an option to add an Electronic Precision Shift—this feature will let you electronically shift gears rather than using manual controls. The exterior of the LT is decked out in chrome to make it more eye-catching than the base trims. Inside, there is a larger infotainment digital display as well as Google built-in. The LT starts at $52,395 MSRP.[a]
RST
The RST, or Rally Sport Truck, trim on the 2024 Chevy Silverado is designed for the person who wants a super powerful and rugged pickup truck but with a sportier look and feel. The exterior design is much more monochromatic, with a painted grille, bumpers, and door handles. This truck’s wheels are also upgraded, featuring 18" Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels with black Chevy bowties instead of the classic golden ones. The RST is the first trim level to have an optional 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine with 10-speed automatic transmission available. This trim runs at a starting MSRP of $53,395 and will have you feeling sporty wherever you go.[a]
Custom Trail Boss
The Custom Trail Boss trim level was designed by Chevy for drivers who want added luxury as well as off-roading capabilities without having to break the bank to buy their way to the very top-of-the-line trim. This truck comes standard with 4WD for maximum traction when driving on dirt or snow. It includes Chevy’s Z71 Suspension with a two-inch factory lift to make it easy to clear any obstacle that comes your way. No tree root is going to ruin your day! This trim will have you off on your best adventures yet for a starting MSRP of $53,795.[a]
LTZ
For a further upgraded experience into luxury, jump into an LTZ trim. This level of the 2024 Chevy Silverado gives its drivers a premium luxury experience without having to commit to the top luxury tier. You’ll find excellent quality features in the interior that make this truck an outstandingly comfortable ride, like front bucket seats with added ventilation. This luxury trim will run you a starting price of $59,195 MSRP.[a]
LT Trail Boss
The LT Trail Boss has all the awesome luxury features of the LT but has been souped up to be trail-ready. You can take the luxury interior you love out on your muddiest adventures without an issue. This truck is 4WD only, like the Custom Trail Boss. You need it, after all when you’re scrambling up rocky terrain. Other off-roading design features you’ll find on the LT Trail Boss include skid plates and a suspension kit. To bring true luxury to the trail, you’ll spend $59,995 minimum.[a]
High Country
The High Country is the tippy-top luxury trim level offered on the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. These trucks always turn heads when they speed by and are distinctive for their prominent stance and stand-out grill style. Their starting price is $64,695; you get the features to prove it. In the High Country, you’ll get front bucket seats, power-up and -down tailgate, and a power sliding rear window.[a] The interior will wow you with its lush appointments and roomy cabin. You’ll never want to leave.
ZR2
This final trim level was only introduced in the 2023 model year, making it still very new to the Silverado 1500 lineup. The ZR2 was designed as the peak performance and off-roading trim, going even further than the Trail Boss levels. Like the Trail Bosses, the ZR2 only comes in 4WD. It comes standard with the 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel engine for monumental horsepower and torque, but you can opt for a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine. It comes standard with the ZR2 suspension package, a suite of features including a lifted suspension system that will have you clearing any obstacle, as well as multimedia DSSV dampers for optimal suspension damping performance. This trim level is for people who want to go all out on luxury and adventure in one go. The starting MSRP on the ZR2 is $71,895.[a]
