New Chevy EVs will be available to Alexandria and Arlington VA drivers this summer at Ourisman Chevrolet in Marlow Heights

While the internal combustion engine isn't going away anytime soon, it's now abundantly clear that its days are numbered as the automobile's primary propulsion source. The future of cars is electric, and Chevrolet is all in, as General Motors plans to launch 30 new electric vehicles globally within the next four years. Last month Chevy expanded its EV portfolio, introducing the all-new 2022 Bolt EUV (electric utility vehicle) alongside the redesigned next-gen 2022 Bolt EV.

We're excited for the new additions here at Ourisman Chevrolet Buick GMC, and are looking forward to helping DMV-area drivers from Woodbridge VA to Washington DC obtain their own piece of the future when Chevy launches the 2022 Bolt EV and 2022 Bolt EUV this summer. Here's a quick look at some of the highlights and distinctions of these new arrivals.

2022 Chevy Bolt EUV vs. 2022 Chevy Bolt EV

Performance

The Bolt EV and Bolt EUV find their motivation in an electric motor that drives the front wheels with 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. On a full charge, the 65-kWh lithium-ion battery pack gives the Bolt EV an EPA-estimated 259 miles of range and with the slightly large Bolt EUV an EPA-estimated 247 miles.

Customers will receive a new Dual Level Charge Cord, standard for the Bolt EUV and available for Bolt EV, eliminating the need for many customers to purchase a separate home charge. The cord features swappable plugs for standard 120-volt Level 1 charging and 240-volt Level 2 charging up to 7.2 kW. Both vehicles are capable of 11 kW charging with separate equipment (not included). Additionally, Chevrolet will cover standard installation of Level 2 charging capability for eligible customers who purchase or lease a 2022 Bolt EUV or Bolt EV.

Exterior

While the Chevy Bolt EUV shares its architecture with the Bolt EV, its design is unique, sharing no exterior sheet metal parts. The Bolt EUV is also about six inches longer. According to Chevrolet's Vice President Steve Hill, "The new Bolt EUV is the best of the Bolt EV packaged in an SUV-like vehicle with more technology and features, giving customers more choices and reasons to switch to electric."

The all-new Bolt EUV carves its own niche in the ever-expanding small SUV segment, sporting a modern, muscular design, with seamless character lines that evoke a sense of motion even when standing still. Up front, the Bolt EUV's assertive fascia features a sculpted grille and signature lighting, including signature Chevy daytime running lamps that double as sequential turn signals. The Bolt EUV also includes standard roof rails, bolstering its versatility and reinforcing its SUV style.

The Bolt EV returns with a refreshed aesthetic with a more upright front fascia and signature Chevy lighting.

Interior

Both the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV receive new instrument panels, vehicle controls, and seats. Additionally, a 10.2-inch touchscreen includes climate controls and infotainment features for a cleaner and more intuitive interface. The screen also features real-time displays, with the reconfigurable 8-inch digital gauge cluster providing even more details. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard for both models, and wireless phone charging is standard for the Bolt EUV and available for the Bolt EV.

The Bolt EUV expands on the Bolt EV's spacious interior, with even more passenger space and an additional 3 inches of rear legroom. Both models offer available heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, while the Bolt EUV adds an available panoramic sunroof.

Driver Aids

Both the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV include Chevy Safety Assist driver-assistance technologies as standard equipment, including:

  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
  • Following Distance Indicator
  • IntelliBeam (automatic high beams)

Hyattsville drivers can enhance the security and convenience of their daily drives with available driver aid technologies like:

  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Rear Park Assist
  • HD Surround Vision
  • Adaptive Cruise Control

Super Cruise

The Bolt EUV is the first Chevy model to offer available Super Cruise, the industry's first truly hands-free semi-autonomous driving assistance technology. This advanced driver aid can drive autonomously almost indefinitely as long as the driver is looking forward and can even change lanes automatically when the driver activates the turn signal. Super Cruise utilizes a Driver Attention System to determine driver attentiveness and alert the driver if their gaze is averted from the road for too long.
